...where have all the links gone? Last year when I googled Ken Simmons I followed, along with my other incredulous ITA colleagues that wondered,"who the hell is this guy and where did he come from?", the trail of his antics at Redondo Beach up to a "worst boss ever" award on a City blog from a harried LA Housing employee. The links are now gone. No references to his being fired, spying on police unions, shell games with RB library funds...gone all gone. Has Simmons enlisted the help of a search engine cleaner like defendmyname.com ? Well his doings at ITA are starting him on the road to a new Internet presence thanks to your blog. Keep on rumbling!

All the local papers this week speak of the resignation of Hermosa Beach Community Resources Director Mary Rooney. With her departure, Rooney now enters an elite group of local officials whose departures have been veiled by the cloud of bureaucratic ambiguity. In Hermosa Beach, think Steve Wysnewski (we're sure we're spelling that wrong) and Amy Amirani. In Manhattan Beach, think Debbie Terrill. In Redondo, Bill Kirchoff, Ken Simmons and many, many others. In every case, the public would have benefitted from knowing the truth: Who was wronged? Who was vindicated? Intead, rumors circulate, a smattering of incomplete details leak into the press, and these issues are resolved with a puff of smoke behind closed doors. (March 14, 2003)
